February Reflection

At the beginning of the class I started a sketch for a lantern. That sketch would then be scanned, and than scan traced over in photoshop. Once the tracing process was finished, I placed the picture into Maya and began modeling the lantern based on the sketch. Now I have to texture the lantern and make the lantern give off light.

On that note, the R2D2 is coming along well. I'm going to need to edit the portion of the leg highlighted green in order to smooth out the top edge, though.

Side Project

So, while I was working on R2D2, my teacher decided to have me help him test a tutorial on how to make R2D2. In other words the lantern is on hold at the moment. I have made some progress on R2D2's leg already.

Lantern Progress (It Has Begun)

Sorry for the huge delay in posts. Anyways I've managed to get two different lantern models done.

The first one I used the CP Curve tool to make half of the outline and revolved it, while the second one I used the CV Curve tool and revolved it. The first one looks more accurate in terms of the drawing I made, but editing it is a pain. Editing the second lantern is much easier, but is slightly less accurate.

I Have Returned

As the title suggests, I have returned.... again! This time; however, I am working on a project of my own instead of working on class projects. As of right now, I am making a lantern which will be used in a game that I am working on with a friend.

The drawing for the lantern I had to sketch and then retrace in photoshop, and currently I am working on modeling it in Maya. I might have to work from one side though since the sketch isn't symmetrical.

Lightsaber Final

This is the last time I post anything this school year. Luckily, I'm posting a lightsaber(Woot!)! I've actually been working on this for a few weeks now, I just didn't post much these last few weeks. Sorry about that. I'm also supposed to be coloring the lightsaber, but I won't have any time.

The reason the lightsaber has different backgrounds is because I set the render settings to mental ray and put a light probe into the image based lighting.

3-Point Lighting Gif

In order to make it even easier for you to see the differences, I made a gif with the three images from my previous post. Here it is:

3-Point Lighting Sea Urchin Repost

Last time I posted the images for my lighting on the sea urchin, I cropped the images horribly, making it difficult to see some of the changes that occurred as the different lights were applied. I did a better job this time as well as removed the text that was on the image. Here'es what it looks like now.

Hope you can see the differences a bit better now.
